DavidJones from theJones & Crane Show on 107.9 WSRZ is talking tile and #TileRemodel project. He is witnessing firsthand how a beautiful wood look porcelain tile can transform a space.
In this case, it's the iHeartRadio station lobby in Sarasota, Florida.
We caught up with David to learn more about him, the Jones & Crane Show and the lobby floor #TileRemodel project.
Meet David Jones from Jones & Crane on 107.9 WSRZ
TOA: What is your background and history with the station?
DJ: I have been with the company here in Sarasota over 25 years and with Christina Crane over 20 of those years.
TOA: What makes the Jones and Crane show special and so successful after 20 years?
DJ: We value a relationship with the listeners and consider them more like family members. We are part of the community and help give back whenever we can.
(To get a feel for the relationship Jones & Crane have developed over the years, watch the 2:04 minute video from SNN titled "Sarasota DJs Jones & Crane Reflect On 20 Years".)
TOA: What are the biggest changes since your show launched?
DJ: The internet! We have been on the air so long that the industry has completely changed with the digital aspects being at the top of the list. With iHeartRadio our show is not only syndicated to the other side of the state but can be heard all over the country.
TOA: What are your favorite ways of giving back to the community?
DJ: We do Free Friday Night Dance parties every month as well as host a marathon, record setting, blood drive called Pints for Play where anything goes on the radio in exchange for a unit of blood. Combined with a weekly pet adoption called Crane's Critters and our annual Santa Cause, we stay involved and busy in the community.
TOA: What do you love most about Sarasota?
DJ: It's paradise that also happens to be where I grew up.
TOA: Where do you recommend that people go for design (and tile) inspiration?
DJ: My buddy does tile for a living and has laid tile all over the Suncoast from designer bathrooms to beach shops out on Siesta Key.
TOA: Tell us about the radio station lobby remodel. How bad was it?
DJ: It started out rather bland and aside from a few pictures and a flat screen TV nothing stood out.
TOA: What's your reaction to the remodel and to the floors?
DJ: Now it looks fantastic and everything flows from the gorgeous tile to the reception desk.
TOA: What do you love most about the tile chosen for the #TileRemodel?
DJ: The "natural" look of the grey driftwood tile is not only warm and welcoming, but the first thing people notice about our new lobby the moment they set foot in the building.
iHeartRadio chose Oslo Gris Wood Plank look porcelain tile for the lobby floor remodel.
TOA: What are your favorite ways/places for using tile in the home?
DJ: We actually used a similar distressed wood look tile in our kitchen remodel, and more people comment on the tile, that flows from the kitchen to the dining room and then the living room. Most think it's actually a wood floor throughout the entire house, but it is all tile.
TOA: Thanks, David!
