Finley’s Irish Pub Remodels with Wood Plank Tile and Stone-Inspired Tile
Posted by TOA's Blog Team on Jun 23rd 2016
Wondering how remodels with wood plank tile and stone-inspired tile look? Well, if you're in the Largo, Florida area, you will definitely want to check out Finley's Irish Pub.
As the Finley's website explains,
"An Irish Pub is not just a bar or a restaurant. In Ireland, the pub is the heart of the Social Life. It is a community gathering place for friends and musicians. A true Irish Pub is distinguished by its "Craic" an Irish term meaning a combination of the music, the drink, the conversations and the spirit of the surroundings."
How best to make sure that a pub has surroundings that make "Craic" possible? With just the right tile, of course!
We caught up with Mark Ternes from Finley's to learn more about the pub and how he used wood plank tile and stone-inspired tile to remodel the establishment.

TOA: Tell us about Finley's and the remodel.
MT: We are known for our food, and especially our Fish & Chips. We make all our sauces and provide true Irish Pub food dishes.
We are open 7 days a week from 11:00 am to midnight.
Finley’s provides live entertainment during the week. You'll find locals and regulars who frequent the Pub for the atmosphere and character. During the week we have Trivia on Wednesday nights, Blue’s Jams on Thursdays and Saturday night we always have live entertainment.

During the remodel, we had the opportunity to expand Finley's and add more real estate to our existing space. We were able to install a stage for bands to perform on and also added more eating space inside and out.
When you enter Finley's, you'll notice two bars on opposite sides of the Pub; they create the illusion of a mirror.
Be sure to check out the mural behind the stage. This was hand painted based on well-known monuments and attractions in Ireland. This really tells the story of this beautiful country.
TOA: Mark, what tile products did you select for the remodel of Finleys?
MT: We selected the Canaima Wengue 6x24 wood plank porcelain tile for the dance floor and bar area.
The wood plank is in a nice chocolate color that complements the bar area cabinets and tables. It's warm and inviting and very pub-like. It's a great look for Finley's!

In the bathrooms, we used a stone-inspired porcelain tile in two different sizes.
The bathroom floors used the Icaria Ocre 12x24 and the Icaria Ocre 12x12 on the walls.
Both of these tiles fit the specs for a restaurant that will have a lot of traffic. They also work well together.
TOA: How did you hear about Tile Outlets of America?
MT:A good customer had bought tile at Tile Outlets of America and referred us to the store in Tampa. We really liked the service and selection.
The salesperson was very responsive to our needs and found the items that were going to work for our renovation based on our project specifications and the look we were trying to achieve for the space.
What were your reactions to shopping at Tile Outlets for this project?
MT:We liked the store. There were plenty of tile options to choose from. The sales associate was extremely helpful. We left the blueprints with him so he could calculate the quantities needed for the remodel and select options for us.
When we went back to see him, he provided us with good tile choices to pick from.
The counter cashier people were very good and pleasant to deal with for the check out process.
We liked that Tile Outlets of America has a 90 day return policy.
