Meet Mark Scott, Fort Myers General Manager for Tile Outlets of America

Have you met Mark Scott, Fort Myers General Manager? Although he's new to the role, he's not new to Tile Outlets of America.

We caught up with Mark to learn more about him and give you a feel for what makes our store management teams so committed to helping you transform your home from dream to reality as you explore the beautiful tile and stone possibilities - and other flooring products - available at our three stores.

Introducing Mark Scott, Fort Myers General Manager

TOA: Mark, tell us about your background. Are you from the Fort Myers area?

MS: I was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. I moved to Fort Myers in 1981 and have been blessed with a beautiful daughter and wife of over 31 years.

For over 40 years, I have been in the retail business with 19 years of that time spent working in big box retail stores.

TOA: What is your role in the TIle Outlets Fort Myers store?

MS: As General Manager of our Fort Myers location, I work with all of the associates to ensure we consistently deliver an exceptional shopping experience to each and every customer that we are fortunate enough to have visited our store.

In addition, I work closely with Michele Hoover, our VP of Operations, in the selection of products to ensure we are a One Stop Shop for our customer's needs.

TOA: What do you love most about your job?

MS: What do I love most about my job? The People!... We build relationships!

This reminds me of a large scale small town store where customers shop and get the personal attention they deserve to accomplish their needs. It seems daily someone is coming in, grabbing a cup of coffee, and showing us proud pictures of their project.

TOA: Mark, tell us about your history with Tile Outlets of America.

MS: I was hired as an assistant manager in 2005 for the Fort Myers store.

In 2010 I ventured out to another experience in my life, however, was blessed to be able to return this year as the GM.

TOA: Any surprises since returning?

MS: I was very happily surprised to see our growth and expansion into designing and fulfilling our customers dream kitchens.

We have two outstanding kitchen designers who offer today's greatest cabinet designs whether it be for the kitchen or the bathroom that you have always wanted.

TOA: Mark, how did you get started with tile and stone?

MS: I acquired my start with tile and stone in the environment of big box retail. I have always been intrigued with how versatile you can be in your imagination with the products available today.

TOA: Which are your favorite products and/or installations and why?

MS: Hey, I am "old school." In Indiana, I was brought up with real wood floors.

What we have now is LVT, Luxury Vinyl Tile. It looks magnificent with its realistic look and durability. It looks like stone or ceramic tile, in natural colors and surface texture that feels like The Real Thing.

In addition, most Luxury Vinyls are waterproof or highly water resistant.

TOA: How is Tile Outlets of America different from other shopping experiences?

MS: As I said earlier, we are in the relationship business. Our brand is built on loyalty.

TOA: What do you do when you’re not immersed in tile?

MS: When I am not immersed in tile, my faith and family are first.... then IU Basketball!!!!
