They’re sometimes marketed as porcelain “slabs,” but true slabs are 12 mm thick and up — these panels are deliberately thinner so they work across our floor, wall, and countertop applications. Specialized Installation — What to Know Before You Buy

Panels are large, thin, and flexible, so they install differently from standard tile. Plan for these requirements — and, in most cases, a professional crew experienced with gauged porcelain panels:

• Handling. Panels are moved with suction-cup handling frames, typically by a two- or three-person crew, to prevent flexing and corner breaks.
• Substrate prep. The setting bed must be exceptionally flat — industry guidance is roughly 1/8″ of deviation over 10 ft — and structurally sound. An anti-fracture or uncoupling membrane is recommended over questionable substrates.
• Setting materials. Use a large-and-heavy-tile (LHT) / large-format mortar with the back-buttering plus notched-trowel method for near-100% coverage, a beating block or vibrating tool to remove voids, and a tile-leveling (anti-lippage) system.
• Cutting & drilling. Straight cuts use a scoring rail-and-snap system; finished edges and openings use a wet saw with a continuous-rim porcelain blade. Reinforcing mesh on the back and careful L-cuts prevent stress fractures.
• Countertops & exteriors. Follow the manufacturer’s engineered details for support, seams, and fastening.
