Frequently Asked Questions
What's special about a bonding-flange drain like KERDI-DRAIN?
The membrane bonds directly to the drain's wide flange, making the waterproof layer continuous right to the drain opening — no weep holes or clamping ring. It's the standard for sheet-membrane showers.
Can I change just the drain grate finish?
Usually yes — 4-inch grate kits swap onto the installed drain body, so you can switch to brushed nickel, matte black, gold, or a decorative pattern without touching the plumbing.
Point drain or linear drain?
A point (center) drain uses a four-way slope and works with any tile size. A linear drain needs only a single slope, which lets you use large-format tile on the floor and build curbless entries.
ABS or PVC drain — which do I order?
Match your home's drain piping — most Florida homes are PVC (white pipe); ABS is black. The drain must solvent-weld to the same plastic.
