What is tile edge trim and when do I need it?
Edge trim is a metal or PVC profile that caps an exposed tile edge — where tile ends on a wall, meets another floor, or turns an outside corner. You need it any time a cut or unglazed tile edge would otherwise show, or where the edge needs impact protection.
What's the difference between Schluter JOLLY, SCHIENE, and QUADEC?
All three finish an edge: SCHIENE is the minimal L-shaped floor and wall edge, JOLLY shows a slim rounded-square reveal and is the go-to wall finish, and QUADEC shows a squared, symmetrical face for a bolder modern line.
How do I pick the right profile height?
Match the profile to your tile thickness — common sizes are 5/16", 3/8", and 1/2". The profile should sit flush with or a hair below the tile face, never proud of it.
Do metal profiles install after the tile is set?
No — the anchoring leg gets embedded in the thinset as you set the adjoining row of tile, so plan your trim before you start setting.
