Can I mix brands — say a KERDI tray with a different drain?
It's risky. Waterproofing warranties assume matched components, and the drain-to-membrane connection is the most leak-prone joint in the shower. Stick with one system per shower.
How long does a foam shower system take to install versus a mud bed?
A foam tray system is typically waterproofed and tile-ready in a day. A traditional mud bed needs forming, curing, a liner, and a second mud layer — usually 2–3 days before tile.
